This is the website of the Merseyside and Cheshire National Leaders of Governance.
National Leaders of Governance (NLGs) are highly effective chairs of school/academy governing bodies who are designated by the National College for Teaching and Leadership to provide support to chairs for governors in other schools.
There are twenty seven NLGs designated in the Merseyside and Cheshire Area and we want to introduce ourselves and explain a bit about how we may be able to help your school. Having an NLG deployed to your governing body is usually free of charge, and NLGs can provide support in a number of different ways. Find out more.
Some of us also conduct external reviews of governance in line with the Ofsted framework. Lots of individuals and organisations offer these reviews but the government guidelines recommend that “you choose someone with recent successful experience of leading governance and school improvement”. Costs and arrangements for reviews are as agreed between individual schools and NLGs.
The NLGs in the Merseyside and Cheshire Area work closely with the Learn and Lead Partnership. If you would like to find out more about how to get support from an NLG in your school / Local Authority / Teaching School Alliance / Multi Academy Trust please email Jill Stanton, the Learn and Lead Administration Manager.
